Lock and Dam Number 1

Photos taken from the west bank of the Mississippi River near the VA Home, Sunday, November 8, 2009. Though this is designated Lock and Dam Number 1, there are actually two locks upriver of it, at St. Anthony Falls in Minneapolis.

There is a goose nesting on the small island

at the north end of Snelling Lake in Fort Snelling State Park.

There was a river clean-up along the gorge (north of the Ford Bridge) on Saturday, April 18.

It was sponsored by the Friends of the Mississippi River.
